# Ask anything with Iris

> Ask Iris questions about your calls, texts, contacts, and team, and get answers that link to the calls and contacts behind them.

Iris is Vocal's assistant. It reads your workspace's calls, texts, and contacts so you can ask a question in plain English instead of scrolling through threads or building a report. Click **Iris** in the rail; it's also the page you land on when you open your workspace.

Type into **Ask Iris anything about your business…** and press Enter. Some questions a recruiting or dispatch team might ask:

* "How many calls did I make today?"
* "Which drivers said they're interested in the Dallas lane this week?"
* "What do we know about Marcus Reed?"
* "Which texts are still waiting for a reply?"
* "How is Aziza doing this month?" (Owners and Admins)

Iris shows what it checked while it works, then writes the answer. Answers that rely on specific records list them, and each **Call record** or **Contact record** opens the call or contact it came from, so you can read the transcript before acting on what Iris said. Type into **Ask a follow-up…** to keep going in the same conversation.

Iris reads; it doesn't act. It won't send texts, place calls, or change records. If you ask it to help with follow-ups, it drafts the texts for you to copy and send yourself.

## Past conversations

Click **History** to reopen an earlier chat, or **New conversation** to start fresh. Each chat in the history list has a delete button.

## What Iris can see

Iris follows the same access rules as the rest of Vocal, and it checks them again each time you ask.

| Role | What Iris answers about |
| - | - |
| **Member** | Calls and texts on the numbers you're on (plus your groups' numbers if you manage a group), the contacts you can open, and your own activity stats. Group managers also get activity for the numbers they manage. |
| **Owner** and **Admin** | The whole workspace, including teammates' activity and trends over past date ranges |

A Member who asks "how's the team doing?" gets their own numbers, not everyone's. See [Members and roles](https://support.vocal.solutions/team/members-and-roles.md).

## The daily brief

Owners and Admins can click **Daily brief** next to the Iris heading to open it below the question box. It covers your most recent full day of activity (the date is at the top) in three cards: **Activity** (calls in and out, and missed calls), **Needs attention** (things like missed calls nobody returned or texts waiting on a reply), and **Highlights**. Click a card and Iris explains it in a conversation. A new workspace sees "Your daily brief is on its way" until it has a day of activity.

## Iris in Telegram

Owners and Admins can also ask Iris questions from Telegram. Go to **Settings → Integrations**, open **Telegram**, and click **Connect to Telegram**. Open the Vocal bot in Telegram, press **Start**, then come back to Vocal and it connects on its own. **Disconnect** on the same page unlinks it. Integrations are included on the Growth plan and above.
