# Number pools

> Rotate outbound calls across a pool of numbers — spread the volume, protect answer rates, and keep your numbers healthy.

Dial a hundred calls a day from one number and carriers start treating it like a telemarketer: more "Spam Likely" labels, fewer pickups. Number pools fix the pattern, not the symptom — outbound calls rotate across a group of numbers so no single line carries enough volume to look suspicious.

## How it works

1. Open **Settings → Number pools** and create a pool — "Outbound — West," "Sales dials."
2. Add numbers to it. Existing numbers work; so do new ones you claim for the purpose.
3. Point your [outbound campaigns](/campaigns/outbound) at the pool. Vocal picks the number for each call and spreads the load automatically.

Inbound doesn't change: every pooled number still answers through its own call flow, so callbacks to any of them land normally.

## Number health, watched for you

Each pooled number carries a **health state** — healthy, warming, or resting. Vocal paces how much volume each number takes, eases new numbers in instead of burning them on day one, and rests a number when its reputation needs to recover. You see the states at a glance; the pacing happens on its own.

## When you want this

* **Outbound campaigns at volume** — the main event. Follow-up sweeps, review requests, appointment reminders across hundreds of contacts.
* **Protecting your main line** — keep your published business number pristine while campaign traffic rides the pool.
* **Local presence across regions** — pool numbers from the area codes you sell into.

## Availability

Number pools are included on the **Scale plan** — see [Plans & billing](/billing/plans). Additional pool numbers are billed like any other number (\$5/month local) — see [Get a phone number](/numbers/get-a-number).
